Well, School's back. The girls were so excited to be starting school. It is such a new experience for them. Joe had the day off so we both got to take our little angels to class. Of, course we made sure the camera was at the ready. So the kids were up and ready early. I knew there would be a fight for parking so we gave ourselves extra time. Once at school, the girls were eager to get to class, but we waited a while as I was sure the prep teacher's did not want the kids to arrive at class too early. So at 8 o'clock we finally ventured down (school starts at 8:30) to prep. We were the first to arrive and the teachers were so lovely. Joe went to school with one of the prep teachers (not the girls' teachers) so he had a little chat before we took the girls to their classes. I was prepared for tears and anxiety, but we had none so we settled the girls said goodbye and left. (Other children had arrived by this stage and the rooms were filling with adults and children.) So Joe and I went off for the day, thinking how lovely it was that the girls were so calm. Or so we thought. At 2:45pm we went to collect the girls from their rooms. Joe went to get Tegan and I went to get Miranda. As I walked in, tears started flowing. It was very sad! Trudi, the school officer said she lasted most of the day and the tears only started just before home time, so not too bad, and considering Miranda was one to still have an afternoon sleep, I was very impressed! (She is only 4 1/2, just made the age cut off by 8 days!) So then I found Joe and Tegan and stuck my head into her class to see how she did. The teacher shook her head and said "not good" Apparently she started crying at lunch (which is at 10:30am) at continued the whole day. They ended up putting her in the corner with a cool washer to settle her. (They did ask Miranda if she wanted to sit with her sister but she said no) Tegan had not eaten a thing all day either. So day one done, not so good. Onto day 2. Miranda was awesome, still no morning tears, she was ready to go. Tegan was still excited about school, and went off ok, but I waited outside the classroom for a few minutes to see what would happen and sure enough, the tears started. I came back in, gave her a cuddle and handed her over to the teacher (I have to admit to a few tears welling up in my eyes too). So off I went, hoping for better news in the afternoon. Success, when I collected the girls they were happy. Tegan had only cried for a little while, and was pleased to announce she had made 3 friends (but did not remember their names) Miranda had made a friend too, Oliver! So day 3 was only a few morning tears as well.
So onto week 2. Only a couple of tears Monday morning, but really happy girls in the afternoon. By Tuesday Tegan gad made a good friend, Olivia, and she was much more settled. Miranda was starting to get tired from all this school and was having a couple of tears in the morning, but she was ok. By Thursday, the girls were Great! They had made a couple of friends and were going to line up without tears and the afternoons were beautiful. They had so much to tell me about their days and the friends they had made!
As for my big boy, well he is excited to be in year 7 and a school leader. He likes his teacher and seems to be happy with it all. Tomorrow, (Monday) he has his first retreat for the year. Blake is excited to wear free dress and have a sausage sizzle for lunch, but they will participate in some leadership building activities as well. I am really impressed with the effort the school makes in encouraging the kids to take on the leadership role and setting a good example to the whole school community. He should have an interesting year.
So that's what's new in Wezza's World,
Until next time, Keep Safe!

Where did my babies go?
So, only 5 more sleeps until school starts. I am feeling a little sad that I will no longer have any children at home with me. It all seems strange. I am excited for the girls, they are going to enjoy school. Tegan will love the social interactions and Miranda will appreciate all the learning activities. I just feel a little nostalgic I guess about all the time we have had together at home. Anyway we are all set to go. I have contacted all of Blake's books and all the uniforms are named and ready to go. I can't believe how many people I know have children starting prep this year. Must have been a big 12 months for births (I had 2 in 10 months so there you go)
I also have a sick husband at the moment, he has a chest infection and a sore throat (but no tonsils, he had them removed as a child) so he is feeling sad and sorry for himself. As long as he keeps out of my way and doesn't breathe on me, all will be fine! I have no time for catching other people's germs.
Blake is excited/ nervous about starting his final year of primary school. St Bernardine's give all the year 7 students wonderful opportunities to take on leadership roles and to develop the skills which go along with this. He is also growing so tall. It is like he has grown before my eyes these holidays. He is 160cm (5'4 1/2") and we just had to buy size 6 men's shoes for him for school. Last year was only size 4. As I am 168 (5'7), there is not much difference in height anymore. Where did my little boy go?
Well, aside from the preparation for school, not much else is going on in Wezza's world.
Keep Safe,
Until next time,

The Countdown
So now we are counting down the days until school starts. Everyone has uniforms, shoes, school bags, lunch boxes etc, and Blake has his books. The girls do not need any books, they just need to bring in chux and tissues etc and a library bag. I am feeling excited but also a little anxious. It will be so strange to not have the girls at home anymore. I am looking into my options for what to do now they are at school, I didn't get a full time teaching job, so I need to see what happens. It is a little difficult as I really need to do something in school hours as Joseph starts work at 3 am so cannot take the kids to school and he does not have a set finishing time so I can't rely on him being able to pick the kids up after school either. And then there is school holidays. While my parents are available to look after the kids, I do not think that the kids should be away from home all the time and I don't want the girls to think now they have started school, I don't want to spend time with them. They are still only little kids. Miranda is only 4 and Tegan is 5. There is so much to think about even though the kids will not be at home during the day. So for now I will stick with relief teaching and explore some other options.
Anyway, that's what's happening in Wezza's world.
Until next time,
Keep Safe,

After Christmas
So here it is after Christmas. Its always such a busy time, and my oven died, so I was trying to do my Christmas cooking without any baking. Luckily mum and Dad live close now so I could drop in to borrow mum's oven as I needed. I always love making the traditional Polish foods for Christmas, always reminds me of my grandparents (who are no longer with us). The girls really enjoyed pitching in and helping too, its a great mummy and daughter time. (I think I appreciated this time a little more this year too, as in only a few more weeks, they will be off to school.)
I am so sick of this rain. We had an inch on the Tuesday before Christmas when the storm hit and we lost power for a couple of hours, which means we had no water either as we are on tank water and you need electricity to pump the water from the tank to the house! Blake had a friend sleeping over as well so it was an interesting couple of hours. The kids all splashed in the puddles for a while and then Joe hooked up the generator so the kids could wash off before coming inside. They were pretty pleased though, 'cause with no power I couldn't cook dinner so the poor kids had to struggle with pizzas for dinner!! (They were really disappointed...NOT) The power finally came back on after dinner so the boys got into their video games and a dvd before bed. But, it has continued to rain here and while it is lovely that our tanks are now full and the gardens are watered, my yard now looks like a swamp. There is so much mud, it is disgusting. I am reluctant to start on my housework, as I know the mud will be back in the house in no time.
With all the rain around it was nice to go out to the post Christmas sales yesterday. My mother-in law, wanted to go shopping and as she is now stuck at home with her husband, as he had a stroke back in May and she doesn't drive, I volunteered to take her out. It was a lovely day and I grabbed myself a few bargains.
I was surprised by my husband on Sunday night, he had bought me an eternity ring. (A bit late I know, but lovely just the same.) So I know have a knuckle full of sparkle on my left hand. Very Nice!!!
So now to fill in the rest of the holidays before ALL my kids go off to school at the end of January. I am amazed that the girls will be at school, not so much that I feel like it has gone so fast but more for the fact that I have spent the last 5 years at home with them and now they won't be here. I'm sure it will take some getting used to. Then there is my first baby, Blake, starting his final year of Primary school. That makes me feel a bit old. So I guess we will have to get ourselves organised to get 3 kids off to school in the morning. That's 3 uniforms, 3 lunches and all that other organisational stuff that goes along with it. I was looking for a job as the kids will all be at school, but I was unsuccessful. I am not too concerned though because I am kind of grateful that I will get to take the girls to school to begin with. It is a big step and it will be nice for mummy to be there rather than grandma. Especially since they are used to being at home with me. I will continue with relief teaching for now and if something comes up along the way, I will consider it.
So, that's what's happening in Wezza's World. I hope the rain stops soon, you may have to start calling me Princess Fiona (I live in the swamp...LOL).
Until next time,
Wendy

Crap! I didn't get the job I wanted. Damnit! Damnit! Damnit! and now there are no jobs on my side of town. Plenty if I lived on the Northside. (Bray Park, Scarborough, Brighton...) Oh well, I will just have to keep on relieving and try to work out something else. If only I could guarantee more work. What to do? I really thought I had a better than average chance on this one and didn't even get an interview. I suppose I should be grateful I at least got an email to tell me I was unsuccessful, all the others haven't even done that.
Otherwise, everything is fine. we have some busy weekends coming up with the girls rehearsing for their ballet concert on the 23rd and 24th November! Getting ready for Christmas and such. Have already bought a lot of the presents so it will be much easier.
Well nothing else exciting here in Wezza's world.

So I have had plenty of work coming in. At least 2 days each week this term. I enjoy getting out for the day and the classes I have had are pretty good. No word on the job I applied for so its not looking good, which is a shame. I was really quite looking forward to that one. Onward and upward I suppose.
The girls have their prep orientation next week which will be exciting. They are really looking forward to starting school.
I am enjoying my housework day today. The weather is beautiful, the girls are behaving, its lovely. Blake is performing with the school choir tonight at the local shopping centre for the chemists christmas sale. I look forward to seeing it.
Not too much else going on in Wezza's world.

Well what a busy week it turned into. Afer mostly recovering from that awful tonsilitis (although still not 100%) I worked Thursday and Friday. Had a busy shopping/ visiting weekend. (F-I-L still in the hospital after his stroke on 1st May) then worked again Monday. Yesterday I was out and about with my girls doing odd jobs and appointments. I t was actually a lovely day and everyone behaved themselves (even me...lol).
We had some beautiful rain on Monday night...about 16 1/2 mm. and a little bit during the day Tuesday. (about another 1 mm) So the grass is starting to look green again but we still need a lot more to fill the tanks, they are pretty low. I feel anxious every time I put a load of washing on because that's more water used up, but hopefully there is more rain on the way!
So now I sit and wait for more calls to work and apply for jobs for next year. There is one I have applied for that I really, really want, so fingers crossed everyone and pray that I get it!
Well that's what's new in Wezza's world today,
